BLACK AND WHITE
With a desire for textures and deep contrasts, charcoal has been a way to experiment while teaching oneself planning and patience. Keeping the paper clean is a mastery of its own, but creating beautiful, realistic work, in the end, makes it all worth it.

LITTLE SPINES OF MINE
This piece was a study on the human skeleton. Strong detail was taken into the shadows and highlights to give it a dense feeling. It is happy knowing this was the first piece to start a career in charcoal drawings.

What was explored in this project was to allow the viewer to get in touch with all of their senses. Mud between the toes, creek air in the nose, the sound of the rushing water during a wet season. Texture was important to give a sense of all the feeling as well.

WORKING HARD
As a practice for perspective, this kayak trip takes a bright, relaxing time with embracing the highlights and leading lines.
